For purposes of conservatism and in order to minimise risk, Fly Sling has taken a policy decision to limit Sling 4 use to three adults or two adults and two children.
The Sling 4 is the tried and tested four seat aircraft developed by Sling Aircraft after James and Mike’s historic flight around the world in their two-seat prototype. This is the same aeroplane that circumnavigated the globe in 2011, including a single hop flight from Rio de Janiero to Cape Town. The Sling 4 is fitted with the 115 hp Rotax 914 UL turbo charged engine, which burns less than 6 gph (23 lt/hr) in the cruise. Cruise speeds at altitude are typically 130 KTAS and the range on standard tanks is more than 700 nm. (ZU-TAD has long range tanks which will fly you more than 1,200 nm with a one-hour reserve). All Fly Sling Sling 4’s are fitted with the bespoke 3 blade Airmaster constant speed propeller, Garmin 10 inch G3X touch EFIS, Garmin GTR 200 COM radio, transponder and autopilot system. The type is famous for its pilot friendly handling and is an ideal touring platform for the Southern African environment. It’s comfortable on unimproved runways and, for the adventurous, with some care, two large frame 29’er mountain bikes can be fitted in the rear.
The minimum daily rate is ordinarily equivalent to three hours flight time. If there are circumstances in which this would prejudice you, however, you are welcome to seek to discuss an alternative arrangement with us in advance. Such an arrangement, however, will only be applicable if agreed with you in writing.
